I'm very inspired by , who has made over 370 ACEOs for charity. For one full year she made an art card every single day, and donated the proceeds.
It's amazing!
There's no way I could do one a day, but I think I could do 2 a month, at least when the weather is warm. I've given it a lot of thought, and I'm really inspired to try.
On the 1st and the 15th of May - October I will do my best to release one ACEO/other small sized painting on either eBay or Etsy. Ebay is easier, because there's a built in setting for donating 100% of the profits to the American Forest Foundation.
I would like to raise $50 total for the AFF and The American Chestnut Foundation by the end of September.
Wish me luck!
Update: When I looked at a calendar aiming for the 3rd Monday instead of the 15th seemed to make more sense. I really have no idea what I'm doing, but I guess I won't figure it out until I'm...doing...whatever it is.
Update:
$9.49/$50 raised WOOOO
Update (July 25):
$11.39/$50 raised - about 1 quarter of the way there.
Update September 1st:
$13.38 raised! I am really so thankful and humbled that the number isn't 0.
Uptade September 26:
$16.17 raised

Why I'm trying Weebly
If something is going to look bad, I want it to be because I'm the one who made it so. :D
In other words, Weebly gives me more control over the appearance and format of my pages.
I am going to try it for a solid 6 months.
My prediction is that one of three things will happen:
1) I will hate it.
2) I will love it.
3) I will find that there are 2 different groups of people visiting my blog, and I will split into two blogs.

How to: Relatively easy watercolor color wheels
I love color wheels! What I don't love is spending ages trying to get them to look at least marginally wheel-like. Here's a relatively quick and easy to try out some colors, practice some glazing, and end up with some nice wheels for referencing. :)
I've combined the Handprint suggestions for colors, and the Gurney Journey suggestions to come up with something that works for me. I remember it with the mnemonic - You ROde My Bus Cousin Gus. It is basically the Gurney mnemonic, but I subbed in red-orange (ROde), because I find it more useful.

First 'serious' stab at gouache
Trying to make peace with gouache. I bought the stuff, it’s probably not good to just keep it in a Tupperware while I feel bad about not using it.
Videos and advice by James Gurney (http://gurneyjourney.blogspot.com/search/label/Gouache) helped a lot!I tried blending around the begonia dots, and then I started to worry that I would ruin it at the last moment.
